The children of Solaikadu now have clean drinking water

Solaikadu 1
Dear Vivek,

The village of Solaikadu is located in coastal Tamil Nadu, India. The tsunami that struck the coast of India in 2004 increased the salinity levels of ground water, forcing the people of the village to consume water from surface sources. This water was often contaminated, and people (specially children) fell prey to water borne diseases. Their ill-health resulted in absenteeism in schools and caused them to miss out on their education, which is their only ticket out of poverty.

Your donation enabled Ekoventure to install a syphon water filter in the local school in Solaikadu. This water filter removes bacteria and parasites from contaminated water and the children now drink pure and safe drinking water. School attendance has started to rise because water-borne diseases are held at bay. In the photograph, you can see the smiling faces of some of the happy children from the school.

Thank you for your generosity.
